Nature Is Our Mother

by tan ying(谭英 湖南大学)

let me begin my speech with a replay of scenes familiar to most, if not all, of those present here today.

"mum, i'm sorry, but i need 3,000 yuan for my tuition thIs year."

"mum, it Is my friend's birthday tomorrow, i must buy her a present."

"mum, thIs jacket was out of fashion long ago, would you do me a favor? "

take. take. take. the relationship between a Mother and a child always seems to follow such a pattern. i know my Mother Is always there for me, providing me with everything i need; from food to clothing, from tuition to pocket money. i never thought twice about all she did until one day she said, "will there be a time that you'll say you have taken enough from me? "

like a child endlessly asking, we humans, throughout hIstory, have been continually demanding what we desire from Nature. we enjoy the comfort and beauty of Our furniture, yet we never bother to think about the serious soil erosion caused by deforestation. we take it for granted that we must warm Ourselves in winter times, yet we seldom realize the burning away of precious natural resOurces. we appreciate all the prosperity from the development of modern industry, yet few would give the slightest consideration to the global air and water pollution caused by industrial wastes. Our ruthless exploitation has permanently impaired Our Mother earth. as we tragically learned from last summer's floods. we cannot continue Our carelessness.

finally, standing here at the threshold of the 21st century, we cannot help thinking of Our posterity. Nature Is not only the Mother of the present generation, but also the Mother of the generations to come. how severely Our descendents will criticize us if we leave them a barren and lifeless Mother? how much more they will appreciate us if we give them a world of harmony to inherit? let us start respecting and caring for Nature from now on. let us start the campaign of creating a mutually beneficial relationship between people and Nature right from thIs moment. with thIs new start, i firmly believe, that Our children, and Our children's children will live in a brand new age of green trees, clean air, crystal water, blue sky and an even more promIsing world!

第三篇:people often say that the earth Is like Our Mother

the earth ------Our Mother things on the earth and provides us with air, food, water and other essential(一切) things we need for living.

once she was beautiful and rich, but now she Is becoming dirtier and dirtier,

poorer and poorer. it Is due(应给) to what we have done to her. please have a good look at her: polluted rivers and lakes, growing deserts, the destruction (毁灭)of the forests and wild life, and the depletion(耗尽) of the ozone layer…

can she bear to see her children putting the waste here and there? can she bear too see her children cutting down the trees and destroying the grassland, to see the acid rain destroying everything? can we bear to see Our Mother suffering so much? Isn' it time for us to ask Ourselves whether thIs Is the way to treat Our Mother?

floods(洪水), draughts, acid rain(酸雨)…,these are the punIshments(惩罚) from Nature. everyone should know that there Is only one earth, lf we go on treating her like thIs, it won' t be fit for us to live in any longer. it' s time for us to love her, take good care of her and cure her. we should save the earth so as to save Ourselves.

第四篇:animal Is an indIspensable part of Our Nature

animal Is an indIspensable part of Our Nature. as a very important role in the food chain, animal has contributed a lot to the diversity of biosphere. for a long time, animal and human beings had coexIsted with each other peacefully. howe(更多请你搜索:WWW.)ver, as the greed and superiority complex of human grows, they think they are the most advanced species in the world and have the right to dominate the world. so they begin to catch their old friends from the wild and cage them into small and dirty rooms.

as to whether animal should be kept in zoo or not, we are strongly against the action.

违反道德,把人类的欢乐建立在动物的痛苦上;

第五篇:save Our Mother planet

save Our Mother planet

th data of environmental pollution thatwereceive from all corners oftheglobegiveusnocauseforoptimIsm.

of cOurse, environmental pollution Is not a modern phenomenon. it began ever since people began to congregate in towns and cities. unfortunately, man refuses to acknowledge or correct hIs past mIstakes. ascities grew in the middle ages, pollution became even more evident. ordinances had to be passed in medieval cities against indIscriminate dumping of waste into the streets and canals. these, however, had little effect on the people’s consciences.i think that the industrial revolution of the nineteenth century was the point of no return.true, the standard of living increased, but it was achieved at a great environmental cost.

Our planet has its own mechanIsms to deal with natural pollutants. however, can the earth assimilate the additional millions of tons of chemicals like sulphur, chlorofluorocarbons, carbon dioxide and methane that Our industries release each year? many a time, we have returned from their research tOurs around the world, lamenting the slow but sure destruction of Our cultural treasures. the carvings on the parthenon, a magnificent building in athens, have been eroded by acid deposition. the roman colosseum, england?s westminster abbey and india?s taj mahal have also fallen victim to insidious chemicals that float in the air.

years earlier, i had studied a secluded Island in the pacific and found its undIsturbed ecosystem in complete balance and stability. in despair, i once contemplated living the rest of my days on the Island in solitude. pollution, however, Is no respecter of boundaries - when i reached the Island, the beaches were awash with trash and dead marine life while the once-lush foliage were sparse and limp. it was then that i realized thIs dying planet needs allies and not fatalIsm and resignation. i returned to resume my crusade and i hope others will join me.
