day off 意思是“休息日,休假日”,作名词用。

anything specialsomewhere nice中,分别用来修饰anything 和somewhere 的形容词special和nice都被放在后面。形容词一般应放在它所修饰的名词之前,但当形容词修饰由some, any, every, no等构成的复合不定代词(如something, everything, nobody, anywhere等)时须后置。

(1)until作介词,意为“直到……时;到……为止”。用于否定句时,常与not 连用,表示“在……之前;直到……才”。如:

We don’t go to school until eight.

直到8点我们才去上学。

We didn’t leave until the rain stopped.

直到雨停了我们才离开。

(2)until作连词,(相当于till)意为“直到……时;到……为止,指某一动作或状态一直持续到until后面的词语所表示的动作为止,此时主句的谓语动词是延续性动词。如:

You should wait until he comes.

你应该等到他来。

5. while 与when

两者都是连词,意为“当……的时候”,其区别如下:

(1)当从句中谓语动词是瞬间动词(即点动词)时,只能用when,不能用while。e.g.:

Don’t forget to write to me when you get there. 到了那儿,别忘了给我写信。

(2)当从句中谓语动词是延续性动词时,用while和when 均可。强调某一段时间内主句和从句中谓语动词所表示的动作在同一时间发生多用while. 如:

You can make some notes while/when you watch English TV programmes. 当收看英语电视节目时节,你可以做一些笔记。

I was taking notes while the teacher was speaking. 老师讲课时我在做笔记。
